Vitinha Reflects on Early Struggles at PSG and Relationships with Messi, Neymar

Since joining Paris Saint-Germain in 2022, midfielder Vitinha has opened up about the challenges he faced during his initial season at the club, a year dominated by the presence of superstars Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé.

As a vital component of Luis Enrique’s PSG system, Vitinha has already made an impact this season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists. Reflecting on his turbulent start at the Parisian club, the Portuguese midfielder shared his thoughts in a recent interview with A Bola.

Vitinha highlighted the lack of team cohesion during his first season under former coach Christophe Galtier, stating: “It was a year where I didn’t feel we were a team. Everyone was running for themselves. We were a bit lost on the pitch. I was still young and had just arrived, it was tough. It was a different coach too.”

During the interview, Vitinha discussed his relationship with the two footballing icons: “A lot has happened, but everything is fine with Messi and Neymar.” Despite having a brief confrontation with the Argentine during a training session, the Portuguese midfielder encountered both former PSG stars again during the Club World Cup this summer, marking a historic season for the club.
