Victor Osimhen Set to Join Al Ahli After PSG Speculations

Recognized as one of Europe’s top scorers, Victor Osimhen has been the center of attention during this transfer window, with significant speculation surrounding his potential move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). However, it has only been in the final days of the transfer period that his situation has begun to shift, indicating a possible departure from Napoli.

Following the initial rumors regarding Kylian Mbappé‘s exit in July 2023, PSG started exploring options for a suitable replacement. According to reports, Luis Campos made an attempt to acquire Victor Osimhen, but negotiations faced resistance from the Napoli management.

The whirlwind summer of Victor Osimhen

In a complete turnaround from last year, Napoli has openly expressed its desire to sell its star player since last spring. However, as revealed by sources, Osimhen is not a top priority for PSG, which is keen on continuing to support Randal Kolo Muani and Gonçalo Ramos. Even a recent injury to Ramos has not altered PSG’s strategy regarding their attacking options.

Towards a move to Al Ahli

Although the prospect of joining PSG seemed to be Osimhen’s preferred choice, he has also attracted interest from the Premier League. Chelsea, for instance, was rumored to be considering him as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who recently transferred to Napoli. However, reports indicate that Osimhen is leaning towards a move to Saudi Arabia instead. According to Il Mattino, the Nigerian international has reportedly accepted an offer from Al Ahli, which includes a four-year contract with an impressive salary of €40 million per season. The contract is expected to feature a release clause between €70 million and €80 million, allowing the 25-year-old forward the option to return to Europe if he desires. Napoli is anticipated to receive a transfer fee of €80 million, along with a 15% sell-on clause for any future transfer.
