Véronique Rabiot Speaks Out on Son’s Dispute with Marseille after Rennes Match
Véronique Rabiot speaks out after heated incident between her son and Jonathan Rowe following the match between Stade Rennais and Olympique de Marseille.
The ongoing saga between Adrien Rabiot and his current club has taken another tumultuous turn, this time involving Olympique de Marseille. Initially embraced by the Marseille fans upon his arrival last summer, the relationship has soured following a reported altercation after the match against Stade Rennais. Reports indicate that Rabiot and teammate Jonathan Rowe were involved in a physical confrontation in the OM locker room. According to club president Pablo Longoria, the incident was marked by “unprecedented violence.” In response, Véronique Rabiot, Adrien’s mother and agent, expressed her disbelief, stating, “No one was injured, no one went to the hospital, there were no broken noses, no split lips, no stitches, no days off work, so I don’t understand.” This comment suggests a significant disconnect between her perspective and that of the Marseille management.
An Unprecedented Situation for the Rabiot Clan
Véronique remarked, “I don’t know what to say, I never expected a situation like this. I thought we had seen the worst with PSG, but I was wrong.” Her comments reflect her concerns about Adrien’s future at OM, especially with his contract expiring next summer. Rabiot is determined to avoid a repeat of the tumultuous period he experienced at Paris Saint-Germain, where he was sidelined for over six months in 2019 due to contract disputes. With the World Cup approaching, he is eager to secure regular playing time this season. However, given Medhi Benatia’s previous remarks, it seems unlikely that this will happen under coach Roberto De Zerbi.
