UEFA Penalizes PSG with Heavy Fines and Ticket Sales Ban for Champions League Incidents
Uefa penalizes PSG after Champions League final disturbances
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has been penalized by Uefa following chaotic scenes during the Champions League final against Inter Milan at Munich’s Allianz Arena on May 31. The match, which PSG won 5-0, was overshadowed by pitch invasions and the use of flares by PSG fans, drawing a harsh response from the European governing body.
Hefty penalties imposed
In a statement released on Thursday, Uefa announced several sanctions against the Parisian club. PSG faces a 100,000-euro fine and a suspended ban on ticket sales for away games for two years.
Additional fines include:
- 30,000 euros for “throwing objects”
- 8,000 euros for “acts of vandalism”
- 10,000 euros for “inappropriate messaging and damaging Uefa’s reputation.”
Total financial penalty of 148,000 euros
The decision follows a disciplinary procedure initiated by Uefa immediately after the final, in line with regulations on supporter conduct and safety during European competitions. PSG now faces a total fine of 148,000 euros.
This marks one of the most significant financial penalties ever imposed by Uefa for incidents involving pitch invasions and pyrotechnics. Meanwhile, Fifa has yet to issue a ruling on Luis Enrique’s conduct during the Club World Cup final, where Chelsea triumphed 3-0.
