Top 50 European Football Teams: Liverpool Leads, Bayern Munich Returns to Top 10

Opta Releases Updated Rankings of Europe’s Top 50 Football Teams

As the football season kicks off in Europe post-holidays, Opta’s artificial intelligence has unveiled its latest rankings of the continent’s best clubs. The standings reflect the dynamic nature of the sport, with familiar faces like Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Olympique de Marseille (OM) making the cut, alongside a surprise entrant in the top 10.

Liverpool Maintains Top Spot

Despite a recent draw against Manchester United (2-2) at Anfield, Liverpool remains at the pinnacle of the rankings. The match, which saw the Reds face off against their fierce rivals, did not hinder their position, thanks to their consistent performance throughout the season.

Notable Changes in the Top 10

The most significant shift in the rankings is the return of Bayern Munich to the top 10, pushing Chelsea out of the coveted list. Chelsea experienced a rough week, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Ipswich Town followed by a disappointing 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace. These results proved detrimental to Enzo Maresca’s squad, leading to their exit from the top tier of European football.

French Clubs Hold Steady

French clubs continue to make their presence felt in the rankings. PSG retains its seventh position, while Lille OSC is ranked 22nd and AS Monaco holds the 27th spot. Olympique de Marseille stays in 31st place, and Olympique Lyonnais rounds out the French representatives at 39th. Meanwhile, RC Lens has dropped out of the rankings altogether.
