Top 50 European Football Teams: Bayern Munich Leads After Champions League Phase

As the Champions League group stage wraps up, European football’s elite teams have been ranked by Whoscored, setting the stage for domestic cup competitions.

After a thrilling 2-2 draw against Hamburg on January 31, Bayern Munich remains at the top of the Bundesliga standings. This coming Sunday, Vincent Kompany’s squad will face Hoffenheim, currently positioned third in the league, in what promises to be a thrilling encounter in Germany.

The second-ranked team in the Whoscored rankings remains Barcelona, who narrowly defeated Albacete (from the second division) 2-1 in the Copa del Rey. Completing the top three is Real Madrid, which secured a controversial win against Rayo Vallecano by the same scoreline, thanks to a last-minute penalty converted by Kylian Mbappé.

No significant changes occurred among the French clubs, as Paris Saint-Germain retained its fifth place following a 2-1 victory at Strasbourg. Lens climbed two spots to seventh after advancing to the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France with a 4-2 win over Troyes. Meanwhile, Rennes, their next league opponent, recently fell to Olympique de Marseille in the cup, leading Marseille to drop two positions to fifteenth place.
