Riolo Skeptical of PSG’s Performance Despite 3-0 Victory in Austria

PSG’s victory questioned: Daniel Riolo remains skeptical after Salzburg win

Location: Salzburg, Austria – Date: Paris Saint-Germain’s recent 3-0 victory over RB Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena offered the team a much-needed boost in the UEFA Champions League. Despite the win, some experts are not convinced of PSG’s current form.

PSG’s win not enough to impress skeptics

Following the victory, Nasser al-Khelaïfi, PSG’s president, displayed considerable enthusiasm about the team’s prospects. However, sports journalist Daniel Riolo voiced a more cautious perspective. He stated, “There’s still another win needed. Perhaps in Stuttgart, because facing Manchester City at Parc des Princes is far from assured. With the level PSG is at now, even a struggling City team might be tough to beat.” Riolo shared these thoughts on a popular sports radio show.

PSG’s qualification prospects in question

While PSG’s win lifted them to the 24th position in the Champions League standings with seven points, the ease of their Salzburg victory raises questions. Riolo commented, “PSG isn’t performing well. Defensively and in midfield, there are gaps. Even a weak Salzburg managed to find spaces, and a stronger opponent might capitalize on those.”

Although this victory positions PSG for potential qualification into the knockout stages, doubts remain about their capability to face stronger teams. Captain Marquinhos and his teammates now hold the last qualifying spot for the round of 16, but the path ahead may require more than just the current form.
