Renato Sanches Returns to Benfica on Loan From PSG with Options
After spending last season on loan at AS Roma, Renato Sanches finds himself once again at Benfica, signaling a new chapter in his career. The Portuguese midfielder was deemed surplus to requirements at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and was urged to find a new club, leading to his return to the Lisbon side where it all began.
In a notable transfer, while Joao Neves made the switch to PSG, Renato Sanches took the opposite path. Following his loan return from AS Roma, the midfielder was not included in Luis Enrique‘s plans and was effectively placed in the club’s ‘loft’ of unwanted players. Now, he aims to rediscover his form and joy at Benfica.
Loan Deal Includes Purchase Option of €10 Million
According to reports from A Bola, Benfica has outlined the details of Sanches’ transfer in their summer market operations. The Portuguese international has been loaned from PSG, with the agreement stipulating an option to buy at a fee of €10 million should Benfica wish to secure his services permanently next summer.
“This is a very satisfying moment for me”
Upon the confirmation of his loan, Renato Sanches expressed his sentiments about returning to Benfica: “For me, this is a very satisfying moment. After eight or nine years, it’s quite emotional to talk about it because it’s a home I have always loved, and I have always thought about returning here one day. I think everyone already knows what I can bring to a team. I am here to help, to do my best, to make the team stronger, and to win what we have to win this year. What I can promise is what I have always done for Benfica every time I wear this jersey. Dedication and hard work, because I was trained here, I grew up here with this work ethic, so I believe that will never be lacking.”
