Real Madrid Leads UEFA Rankings Amid Mixed 2025 Performances; PSG Climbs to 6th
Despite mixed performances in 2025, Real Madrid still tops the UEFA ranking. Paris Saint-Germain, the only French team in the Top 10, continues its climb, alongside FC Barcelona.
As 2025 draws to a close, it’s time to reflect on the year in football. Following the recent European matches played in December, UEFA has updated its ranking of the best clubs. Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid holds the first position, even after being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season.
This ranking is based on clubs’ performances in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League over the past five seasons. Hence, despite Paris Saint-Germain’s historic victory in 2025, they sit at “only” sixth place, trailing Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Manchester City, and Liverpool. FC Barcelona ranks ninth.
Aside from PSG, no other French clubs make the UEFA Top 10. The next best Ligue 1 team is LOSC, ranked 28th. To find Olympique de Marseille, one must go down to 43rd place, flanked by AS Monaco at 42nd and Olympique Lyonnais at 44th.
