Real Madrid Finally Signs Mbappé After Saudi Offer Last Summer
This summer, after numerous attempts, Real Madrid has successfully secured Kylian Mbappé. Before his arrival at the Spanish club, several teams vied for the World Cup champion’s signature, including Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia, which made a staggering €300 million offer to Paris Saint-Germain for the forward during the summer of 2023.
Back in the summer of 2017, PSG managed to acquire the brightest talent in Ligue 1, Kylian Mbappé. At that time, few could have predicted that the relationship between the striker and the Parisian club would sour over the years. Ultimately, it ended unfavorably with Mbappé’s departure to Real Madrid, leaving PSG with no financial return.
PSG Confirms a Major Offer from Saudi Arabia for Mbappé
Kylian Mbappé joined Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, but he could have ended up with another team. According to an internal source from PSG, who spoke to L’Équipe, a significant offer was made by Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023. This offer, amounting to €300 million, was accepted by the Parisian club. “Liverpool never came with a written offer, nor did they have the funds. Once Mbappé renewed his contract, we agreed that if a lucrative offer came along for both the player and the club, a solution would be found. After 2022, the only serious offer was from Saudi Arabia, which was accepted by the club. We are trying to construct a narrative that never existed.”

Al-Hilal Turns to Neymar
Ultimately, Kylian Mbappé declined the offer from Al-Hilal as he aimed to continue competing at the highest level and was determined to join Real Madrid. Consequently, the Saudi club shifted its focus and signed Neymar, Mbappé’s former teammate at PSG, last summer. However, Neymar has barely played due to a significant injury.
