Rafael Leao Open to Bayern Munich Move, But Club Prioritizes Other Targets
Rafael Leao eyes Bayern Munich move, but German club looks elsewhere
In a surprising turn of events, AC Milan’s star winger Rafael Leao remains keen on a potential move to Bayern Munich despite the German club’s focus on alternative options. According to reports from a German publication, discussions with Leao’s representatives took place in June but did not result in an official bid due to Milan’s high asking price.

Bayern’s attack overhaul
Following Leroy Sané’s transfer to Galatasaray and Thomas Müller’s departure, Bayern Munich is actively seeking to bolster their attacking lineup. The club had engaged in negotiations with Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade and Liverpool’s Luis Díaz, but neither deal came to fruition.
Leao remains hopeful
Despite the setbacks, Leao’s hopes of donning Bayern colors persist. However, Uli Hoeness, the club’s honorary president, dismissed any current interest in Leao, stating, “No, no, he was never an option for us! Max [Eberl, sporting director] informed me about discussions, but they did not progress.”
Meanwhile, AC Milan is gearing up for a pre-season friendly against Arsenal, marking Massimiliano Allegri’s debut match since taking the helm. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, continues its quest to find the right fit to strengthen their squad, with Leao seemingly no longer in their sights.
