Monaco rejects PSG’s €50 million bid for Akliouche

Monaco has turned down a third offer from PSG, which could have reached €50 million, for midfielder Maghnes Akliouche, keeping transfer talks ongoing.

PSG’s pursuit of Akliouche

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) must increase their offer to acquire Maghnes Akliouche. The Parisian club presented a third proposal worth €45 million, with an additional €5 million in potential bonuses. Despite this total potentially reaching €50 million, AS Monaco once again declined to release their attacking midfielder.

Monaco holds strong negotiating cards

According to sources, discussions between the two clubs continue. Monaco has several reasons to uphold its demands. Akliouche, just 24 years old, is under contract until June 2028 and recently completed a season scoring seven goals and assisting ten times in 43 matches. His status as a French international, with ten caps, further boosts his market value.

While Monaco is aware that Akliouche’s stance could influence negotiations, the player has reportedly prioritized PSG and reached a five-year contract agreement. Nevertheless, PSG remains unwilling to immediately meet Monaco’s demands. The European champions prefer a patient approach, aiming to finalize the deal at a price they consider reasonable.

Potential for compromise

Monaco’s refusal doesn’t imply the end of negotiations. The club needs to generate revenue in this transfer window but is reluctant to sell one of its main assets for less than its valuation. With the €50 million offered and Monaco’s higher expectations, a compromise is still possible. Akliouche’s desire to join PSG could eventually align the two clubs’ positions, without forcing Monaco to settle for an unsatisfactory offer.
