Gonçalo Ramos Speaks Out on Limited Role at PSG Despite Strong Performance
Gonçalo Ramos: Adapting to a challenging role at PSG
Paris, April 2026 – Despite an impressive track record when on the field, Gonçalo Ramos has found himself primarily on the bench since joining Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the summer of 2023. The Portuguese striker, who transferred from Benfica Lisbon, has nonetheless managed to make a significant impact with limited playing time, scoring 12 goals and providing 2 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions this season.
Ramos speaks on his situation
In a recent interview on the “Cala-te Boca” podcast by Megahits, Ramos opened up about his current role at PSG. “As a striker, my main job is to score goals, but I focus on what I can control,” he explained. “I can’t dictate how much I play, and it’s not worth wasting energy on things outside my control. Everything is going well for me, and I don’t want external factors to affect me negatively.” Despite the challenges of not always being in the starting lineup, Ramos emphasized his contentment with his position at PSG.
A future yet to be determined
While his playing time has been limited, Ramos seems to be thriving in Paris, contributing to a team that impresses on the European stage. Under a contract that extends to June 2028, questions about his future could arise as the transfer window approaches. According to recent statements by manager Luis Enrique, a departure seems unlikely in the short term. Though he may not be the first-choice striker, Enrique values Ramos’s skills and considers him an essential part of the squad. However, as is often the case in football, situations can change rapidly, and a move to a club offering him a more prominent role cannot be ruled out. The situation warrants close attention in the upcoming months.
