PSG’s Summer Transfer Success: Luis Enrique Takes Full Control
The summer transfer window has officially closed, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has welcomed four new signings to their squad: Safonov, Neves, Pacho, and Doué. As the dust settles on the transfer activities, coach Luis Enrique expressed his contentment with the new additions. Notably, it has been revealed that Enrique had full control over PSG’s transfer dealings this season.
When asked about the club’s transfer strategy, Luis Enrique stated, “Firstly, I believe we executed an excellent transfer window. We have improved in every position. I am more than satisfied with the signings we have made,” showcasing his confidence in the team’s new direction.
Luis Enrique Holds All the Cards
Discussing PSG’s transfer maneuvers on L’After Foot, analyst Daniel Riolo emphasized Enrique’s significant influence over recruitment decisions. “Luis Enrique has complete authority at the club; he managed the transfer window himself. He clearly stated what he wanted and where he didn’t want players. He sought a backup left-back, but opportunities did not present themselves,” Riolo explained.
A Different Approach to Player Acquisition
Furthermore, Riolo highlighted Enrique’s reluctance to pursue certain high-profile players, stating, “Up front, he didn’t want anyone else. He specifically did not want Osimhen. His approach, which I appreciate and find refreshing, is that ‘we will not force players or overpay for them.’ This is a departure from what we have often seen at PSG, and he is right to adopt this mindset.”
