PSG’s Stronger 2024-2025 Squad: Agbadou on Team Chemistry

This summer marked a significant transition for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as they bid farewell to Kylian Mbappé. After seven successful years in the French capital, the star forward opted not to renew his contract and instead signed with Real Madrid. Despite this loss, PSG has made a strong start to the current season, prompting Reims defender Emmanuel Agbadou to comment on the team’s evolution, suggesting that the 2024-2025 PSG is notably improved.

Kylian Mbappé’s Departure and New Chapter in Spain

With an impressive tally of 256 goals during his time at PSG, Kylian Mbappé has chosen to embark on a new journey in Spain. The 25-year-old Frenchman has committed to a five-year deal with Real Madrid, leaving PSG without its most prominent offensive player. However, last season, coach Luis Enrique had already begun strategizing for life post-Mbappé, indicating that his squad might actually benefit from a more cohesive team dynamic without their former star.

Luis Enrique’s Vision for Team Success

“We want to be a major player in all competitions, so we need to enhance both our attack and defense. I believe we can achieve this. My goal is that while a player may score 40 goals, it’s more advantageous to have four players each netting 12 goals. That sums up to 48 goals, which is better than 40,” detailed Luis Enrique in August.

Agbadou Praises PSG’s Improved Team Cohesion

After PSG’s recent match against Stade de Reims, which ended in a 1-1 draw, Reims defender Emmanuel Agbadou commented on the evolution of PSG this season: “The PSG of the past and the one we see this season are not the same. They operate as a cohesive unit, both in attack and defense, making them more challenging to face. They quickly regain possession of the ball and are incredibly reactive. You can’t afford to give players like that time on the ball; if you do, they can hurt you. We tried to limit their time with the ball, and we managed that fairly well,” he stated during the post-match mixed zone.
