PSG’s Player Rotation Challenges: Minutes Played and Positions Needing Reinforcement

At Paris Saint-Germain, the desired rotation by Luis Enrique has clearly not been possible across all positions. In defense, some players have been forced to play an excessive number of matches this season.

The season is proving to be lengthy for Paris Saint-Germain. This is a positive sign as the team has already secured all four available trophies before embarking on the Club World Cup journey. However, the playing time has not been evenly distributed among the squad.

Willian Pacho leads the pack with an impressive 4,193 minutes spent on the pitch across French and European competitions. Following closely is Achraf Hakimi, with Vitinha, Joao Neves, and Gianluigi Donnarumma trailing behind.

Positions That Need Reinforcement

Naturally, both Luis Campos and Luis Enrique are eager to strengthen the squad accordingly. Hakimi has been heavily relied upon without a designated backup. Pacho also bears the brunt of Lucas Beraldo’s inexperience in the left center-back position.

Joao Neves also has few suitable replacements, aside from Warren Zaïre-Emery. The Portuguese player has had to step in regularly on the right to give Hakimi a breather. Vitinha, with his unique profile, is also difficult to replace.
