PSG’s Grueling Schedule: Luis Enrique on Adapting to Challenges
This season, with the new UEFA Champions League format and participation in the Club World Cup, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) faces a demanding schedule. In a press conference held on Friday, coach Luis Enrique addressed the challenges posed by this packed calendar and the necessary adaptations the team must make.
PSG’s Grueling Schedule Ahead
The PSG squad is gearing up for a relentless series of matches, requiring exceptional endurance. As with many teams engaged in European competitions this season, the Parisian club’s calendar is set to be particularly grueling.
“The Risk After the Champions League is Real”
While several coaches and players have voiced their concerns regarding the increasing number of fixtures, Luis Enrique was also prompted to share his thoughts on the matter. Speaking before the away match against Reims on Saturday at 9 PM, he highlighted the need for adaptation this season: “This is the shortest break we could have, with only two days between each match. The risk after the Champions League is real. We are playing away against a strong team, but we hope to manage these circumstances effectively,” he stated.
“We Must Adapt to the Club’s Demands”
“We are fortunate that our league has two fewer teams, which means four fewer matches. The French league is different. We must adapt to the club’s demands. I do not have much else to say. We will need to adjust to the calendar,” concluded the Spanish coach.
