PSG’s Farewell Struggles: Sakho Critiques Departures of Stars

As the all-time leading scorer for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Kylian Mbappé’s departure from the club has mirrored the exits of other superstars like Neymar and Lionel Messi, leaving through the proverbial back door. The club’s management has struggled to bid farewell to its top talents, a situation that has frustrated former player Mamadou Sakho.

Frustrations of an Ex-Player

There’s no denying that PSG excels at attracting some of the biggest names in football. The club has rolled out the red carpet for players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, and Lionel Messi. However, when it comes to saying goodbye, the farewell often lacks the same flair. This ongoing issue has left Mamadou Sakho feeling uneasy.

Sakho’s Personal Struggles

The former PSG defender was forced to leave his beloved club when he found himself sidelined as a substitute, despite his readiness to give everything for the team. Nevertheless, Sakho expresses particular disappointment over the way the club has handled the departures of its star players.

“It’s a shame, but it’s a fact”

In a recent interview on the show J-1 on Canal+ Sport Afrique, Sakho remarked, “PSG knows how to welcome players but struggles to say goodbye. It’s a shame, but it’s a fact. When you see the reception given to Ibrahimovic, Neymar, Messi, and Mbappé, and then notice how they leave, it tugs at my heartstrings. I view a football club as a family.”
