PSG’s Doué Issues Warning to Marseille Ahead of Trophée des Champions Final
Scoring the opening goal in Paris Saint-Germain’s recent “Paris derby” victory over Paris FC at Parc des Princes on Sunday (2-1), Désiré Doué has issued a warning to the players of Olympique de Marseille, the next challenger at the Trophée des Champions.
Traveling to Kuwait this Thursday for the Trophée des Champions final, Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille are on contrasting trajectories. PSG secured a straightforward victory against Paris FC (2-1), while OM faced a tough match against FC Nantes, suffering a 0-2 defeat and finishing the game with only nine players on the field.
In the press zone, Désiré Doué took a jab at the Olympians, expressing a desire to “devour” them. The French forward elaborated on the mentality of the Parisian players as they approach this final: “We want to win as many trophies as possible. Every trophy in front of us is something we want to conquer, just like you say.”
History of Trophée des Champions Encounters
In the context of the Trophée des Champions final, both OM and PSG hold an equal record with one victory each. The first match was won by the Phocéens in 2010, concluding in a dramatic penalty shootout ended by Edouard Cissé’s decisive kick. Conversely, the second encounter was claimed by the Parisians in 2021, with goals from Mauro Icardi and Neymar securing their triumph.
