PSG’s Bid for Richard Rios Rejected by Palmeiras Amid Transfer Speculations
Recently shining during the Copa America, Colombian midfielder Richard Rios has stirred excitement in the transfer market. The Palmeiras player has caught the eye of Paris Saint-Germain, who were reportedly ready to offer €20 million for his services. However, what does the future hold for Rios and a potential move to Paris? The response from the Brazilian club has been quite decisive, leaving Olympique de Marseille also on alert.
With just a few days left before the transfer window closes on August 30, PSG still has time to make adjustments to Luis Enrique’s squad. Recently, rumors have sparked interest among Parisian supporters regarding Richard Rios. The 24-year-old currently at Palmeiras could potentially be the subject of a substantial bid.
Palmeiras firmly states Rios is not for sale
According to journalist André Hernan from UOL, he reached out to Palmeiras regarding the speculation surrounding Rios and PSG’s interest. The club’s response was emphatic regarding Rios’s future: “Leila Pereira (President of Palmeiras) has made it very clear, she has warned everyone, all board members of Palmeiras, that Richard Rios will not be sold. Palmeiras will not sell Richard Rios. Whether a €20 million offer from PSG comes in, or from Olympique de Marseille, or any other club, Palmeiras has no intention of selling Richard Rios, that is very clear internally.”
No chance of negotiations opening
Hernan added further insights from a board member: “I spoke to someone from the board who told me there is no chance Palmeiras will open negotiations with another club until the end of this window because Leila Pereira has already declared that Richard Rios will not be sold.” This statement indicates that Rios is likely to remain with Palmeiras this summer, dismissing any potential moves to either PSG or OM.
