PSG Strengthens Medical Team with New Physiotherapist Pedro Barreiras from Benfica
Paris Saint-Germain has made a new addition, but it’s not a player. The club has welcomed Pedro Barreiras, the former physiotherapist of Benfica Lisbon, to its medical staff.
Injuries have become a pressing concern for PSG this season, following a near-perfect 2024-2025 campaign under coach Luis Enrique. A number of players, including Doué, Dembélé, Ruiz, and Hakimi, have faced varying degrees of physical setbacks. To address this issue, the club’s management has bolstered its medical team with Barreiras, who announced his new role with the French champions on his LinkedIn profile.
Barreiras brings experience and familiarity
A well-respected professional, the Portuguese physiotherapist spent 16 years at Benfica, where he began in athletics before transitioning to football. He worked with the U19 team for two years and spent the last seven years caring for the first team.
At PSG, he will serve as a physiotherapist, and he is expected to recognize some familiar faces, having previously worked with Goncalo Ramos and Joao Neves in Lisbon. Barreiras has also treated former PSG players like Angel Di Maria and Renato Sanches, making his transition to the Parisian club smoother.
