PSG Set to Offload Unwanted Player as Manchester United Eyes Ugarte Transfer

Before the transfer window closes, PSG is on the verge of offloading a long-unwanted player.

Despite a relatively calm recruitment period that saw the arrival of three new players, Paris Saint-Germain has already splurged over €200 million on the permanent transfer of Gonçalo Ramos, along with the acquisitions of Matvey Safonov, Joao Neves, and Désiré Doué. Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappé remains the only significant departure from the club, leaving PSG without any financial return just days before the transfer window shuts.

Manchester United poised to make a transfer bid for Ugarte?

Just a year after joining from Sporting for €60 million, Manuel Ugarte finds himself among the players being urged to leave PSG, alongside Milan Skriniar, Juan Bernat, and Carlos Soler. Notably absent from the matchday squad in the first two games of the season, Ugarte has been completely sidelined from the team this week. Manchester United has been pressing hard to secure the Uruguayan midfielder, with initial thoughts leaning towards a loan deal. However, recent reports suggest that the Manchester club is now considering a permanent transfer, as indicated by Fabrizio Romano. The impending sale of Scott McTominay to Napoli could enable United to make a reasonable offer.

Given PSG’s substantial investment last summer, an offer approaching the original €60 million might be necessary to appease the Parisian hierarchy. A trending option this summer is a loan deal with a mandatory purchase clause for next summer, which could prove advantageous for all parties involved.
