Recently, the club announced a partnership with the Pernod Ricard group, leading to considerable backlash from Marseille, the home city of the beverage conglomerate. The PSG has officially partnered with the Pernod Ricard group. In their announcement, the club stated: “Paris Saint-Germain is pleased to announce its partnership with Pernod Ricard. … Pernod Ricard is now a global official partner and will be the exclusive supplier of champagne and spirits for the club, with dedicated visibility and communication rights, as well as tailored experiences.”
Marseille reacts strongly
However, this partnership has sparked a wave of outrage in Marseille. The group is a significant name on the Canebière, and the news has not sat well with many supporters of Olympique de Marseille (OM), especially considering the fierce rivalry between the two clubs. Social media erupted with comments, with some urging a boycott of the partnership.

In response to the public reaction, the Pernod Ricard group sought to clarify the situation. Representatives of the group spoke with France Bleu and stated: “We regret the misunderstanding and excitement. PSG has not signed with Pernod Ricard, but with the 240 brands within our group.” They also emphasized their pride in their roots.
