PSG Fails to Replace Mbappé as Transfer Market Closes Empty-Handed

The absence of Kylian Mbappé will be felt this season as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) failed to secure a new striker during the recent transfer window. With the transfer market closing on Friday night, the capital club did not bring in any fresh attacking talent. Reports suggest that PSG chose not to meet the financial demands set by Napoli for striker Victor Osimhen in the final hours of the transfer deadline.

PSG declines Napoli’s asking price

According to sources, PSG opted against aligning with Napoli’s demands for Victor Osimhen, who has been a focal point in the transfer discussions. The Italian club was reportedly seeking €80 million in the closing moments of the transfer window, a sum that PSG deemed excessive for an urgent acquisition. Consequently, the Parisian side withdrew from negotiations.

Chelsea and Saudi Arabia’s attempts also fall short

Following PSG’s withdrawal, Chelsea and clubs from Saudi Arabia emerged as potential suitors for Osimhen. However, none of the interested parties were able to strike a deal with Napoli before the market closed. As a result, the 25-year-old striker remains with the Serie A club, leading to tensions as he has reportedly been sidelined by the Italian side.
