PSG Faces Injury Crisis with Vitinha and Zaïre-Emery Doubts
During the recent international break, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) faced a challenging setback as two key players, Vitinha and Warren Zaïre-Emery, returned injured from their national teams. Vitinha suffered an ankle injury while representing Portugal, while Zaïre-Emery had to withdraw from action with France. This predicament leaves coach Luis Enrique in a tough spot just a week before their matchup against Brest and the Champions League fixtures ahead. The Spanish manager may find himself without two essential midfielders, in a position where options are already limited.
Vitinha and Zaïre-Emery facing uncertain futures?
Vitinha experienced an ankle injury during the match between Portugal and Croatia. He has returned to Paris for treatment, casting doubt on his availability for the upcoming game against Brest this weekend. However, the news doesn’t stop there for the capital club. Warren Zaïre-Emery, just 18 years old, also sustained an injury while playing for France. After coming on against Italy last Friday, the young talent is now nursing a left calf strain. His condition raises further concerns, with speculation about him missing their Champions League clash against Gérone.
Limited options for Enrique
The injuries to these two players place Luis Enrique in a precarious situation. The PSG coach currently has only three specialized midfielders available on the bench: Kang-In Lee, Senny Mayulu, and Fabian Ruiz. Notably, Manuel Ugarte and Carlos Soler departed the club just before the transfer window closed, further constraining Enrique’s selections. It is now up to him to devise the best strategy should these absences be confirmed.
