PSG Eyes Victor Osimhen as Transfer Window Closes Amid Saudi Interest
As the summer transfer window inches closer to its closure on August 30, the future of the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) remains a hot topic, particularly concerning the search for a number 9. Among the potential candidates, Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian international, emerges as a leading figure despite interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli.
Victor Osimhen: The Target of PSG
PSG has been keeping a close eye on Victor Osimhen for several months. Last summer, the club made an attempt to sign the forward after he had an outstanding season, netting 26 goals in Serie A and 31 in all competitions. However, then-Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis firmly rejected the transfer, managing to extend his contract.
Is Osimhen Heading to PSG Soon?
The current circumstances surrounding Osimhen are markedly different from last year. Reports indicate that SSC Napoli is more open to negotiations now, having reportedly removed his release clause of €130 million, according to RMC Sport. Osimhen is considering options within Europe, with PSG and Chelsea as the primary contenders. However, the Nigerian striker appears to prefer a move to the French capital.
Osimhen’s Agent Speaks Out
In light of numerous transfer rumors linking Osimhen to Saudi Arabia, his agent, Roberto Calenda, took to X to clarify the situation. He stated, “Osimhen is a Napoli player, having recently renewed his contract to our mutual satisfaction. He has made history with the Azzurri, and even when significant offers were presented (including this year), we always respected the club’s decisions. As I have previously mentioned, he is not a commodity to be shipped away for new endeavors. Victor was named African Player of the Year and ranked eighth in the Ballon d’Or; he still has much to achieve in Europe. Respect is paramount.”
Negotiations with Al-Ahli
Nonetheless, RMC Sport reports that Osimhen may indeed consider a career move to Saudi Arabia. The Nigerian international is reportedly in discussions with Al-Ahli, although no agreement on salary has been finalized yet. The Saudi league could soon witness a star-studded lineup featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, and Victor Osimhen.
