PSG Ends Interest in Rayan Cherki: New Recruitment Policy Takes Effect

For a time, there was considerable speculation surrounding a potential transfer of Rayan Cherki to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer. Despite reports suggesting that PSG’s management was not keen on bringing the talented OL prodigy on board, Daniel Riolo has indicated that a shift in the club’s recruitment strategy has effectively closed the door on this saga.

Rayan Cherki’s missed opportunity?

There was notable interest in acquiring Rayan Cherki from PSG, but as the summer progressed, discussions stalled. This delay prompted Luis Enrique, the head coach of PSG, to terminate any ongoing negotiations regarding the transfer of the 21-year-old midfielder from Olympique Lyonnais. On the recent episode of After Foot, Daniel Riolo shed light on the situation surrounding Cherki.

“He hesitated, and that was enough to say, you’re not coming”

The RMC editorialist commented on a recent interview with Luis Enrique where he outlined a new recruitment policy for PSG. Riolo recounted Enrique’s statement: “Luis Enrique said in the interview for PSG: we won’t force anyone to come. We aren’t going to insist endlessly. That’s exactly what happened with Cherki; there was a slight change of direction. Some were interested, but he hesitated, and that was enough to say, you’re not coming.”
