PSG Divided Over Osimhen as Summer Transfer Window Closes Without Mbappé Replacement

The summer transfer window is set to close on August 30, and despite the high-profile exit of Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain has yet to secure a replacement. With various options on the table, one name that has emerged is Victor Osimhen. However, according to journalist Daniel Riolo, the club remains divided on pursuing the Napoli star.

PSG’s Striker Search Continues

In recent weeks, PSG has been actively exploring offensive options, still without a suitable replacement for Kylian Mbappé after two matches into the new season. While Jadon Sancho‘s name has been mentioned in the media, The Athletic recently reported that the Parisian club is not interested in the Manchester United winger’s profile.

Lookman not joining PSG

In contrast, the case of Ademola Lookman from Atalanta has taken a different turn. The 26-year-old winger has reportedly caught the eye of PSG’s management, with the club having reached an agreement on both contractual and salary terms with the Nigerian player. However, Atalanta has firmly rejected any attempts to sell their hero from the Europa League final, where he scored a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen. Riolo confirmed this on RMC last Friday, stating, “Regarding the transfer market? For two weeks, I’ve heard things. Lookman? I’ve said from the start that he will not come.”

Osimhen’s Future at PSG Uncertain

The ongoing saga regarding the replacement for Kylian Mbappé also includes Victor Osimhen. As previously reported by le10sport.com, there has been no substantial dialogue regarding a potential transfer to Paris.

Osimhen not favored by PSG’s leadership

According to Daniel Riolo, neither football advisor Luis Campos nor coach Luis Enrique is keen on signing Victor Osimhen. Riolo emphasized that if club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi were to push for Osimhen’s signing, similar to the pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani, it would create significant unrest behind the scenes. He stated, “Honestly, if Osimhen joins before August 30, it means that some very important people at this club are failing to make necessary decisions. Osimhen wouldn’t be the choice of Campos, nor Enrique, and likely even less so for Enrique. There are very few people at Paris who want Osimhen.”
