PSG and Real Madrid Target Mike Maignan Set to Extend with Milan

While Gianluigi Donnarumma and Thibaut Courtois have firmly established themselves as the primary goalkeepers for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Real Madrid respectively, both clubs are reportedly eyeing another talented goalkeeper: Mike Maignan. However, the French international is poised to extend his contract with AC Milan soon, prompting the two European giants to reconsider their strategies.

Maignan set to extend his stay at AC Milan

Since joining in the summer of 2021, Gianluigi Donnarumma has faced competition from Keylor Navas but has ultimately secured his place as PSG’s starting goalkeeper. The Italian shot-stopper is expected to miss the upcoming Champions League match against Girona, which may open the door for new competition within Luis Enrique’s squad. Mike Maignan has recently emerged as a target for PSG.

However, barring any last-minute changes, the French goalkeeper is unlikely to make a switch to the Red and Blue. According to reports from Matteo Moretto, Mike Maignan is on the verge of signing a new contract with AC Milan. The 29-year-old is set to extend his deal, turning down interest from PSG as well as another prestigious club.

In fact, Mike Maignan was also linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent days. Notably, Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni were involved in discussions, attempting to persuade the AC Milan goalkeeper to join the Merengue.
