PSG Aims High Against Girona in Champions League Opener

After reaching the semifinals last season, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) kicks off its new Champions League campaign this Wednesday evening against Girona. Unlike previous years, the Parisian club is not considered a top contender, especially following the departure of superstar Kylian Mbappé. However, captain Marquinhos remains determined to maintain high ambitions.

The UEFA Champions League returns to the Parc des Princes, where PSG will face the surprising Spanish side Girona. For Marquinhos, the mission is clear: to defeat their opponents and aim for the title.

Marquinhos sets the tone

The ambitions, dreams, and goals remain unchanged. It’s about making our supporters proud of the players who wear the jersey and fight for the colors of Paris,” said the PSG captain, who is gearing up for the new format. The objective for the club is to finish among the top eight in a league featuring 36 teams.

“The goal is to start strong”

Now, the Champions League is a new format and a new competition that begins. We will discover it together starting Wednesday. I believe the most important thing will be this first match against Girona at home, to show a strong performance, play well, and gather points in front of our fans. The aim is to start strong,” Marquinhos stated during an interview with the club’s media.
