Presnel Kimpembe Opens Up About His Challenging Recovery from Injury
Presnel Kimpembe recounts his journey from PSG to Qatar SC
In a move that marked the end of an era, **Presnel Kimpembe** left **Paris Saint-Germain** after spending fourteen years with the club, joining **Qatar SC** last September. Before this transition, the French central defender endured one of the toughest periods of his career.
The turning point came with an **Achilles tendon rupture** on February 26, 2023. This injury sidelined the Paris native for nearly two years, a challenging time he recently discussed in an interview.
A test of patience and resilience
Throughout his recovery, Kimpembe emphasized the importance of patience. **“What did I learn from this ordeal? To be patient, even when it’s difficult,”** he revealed. As a professional athlete, accustomed to daily training and high expectations, the inability to play was a significant blow. **“I had to wait and be ready to jump back in when the time was right,”** he added.
The psychological toll on family and self
The physical absence from the field wasn’t the only challenge – the psychological impact on his family was profound. **“My family and I felt the strain. My children had questions: ‘Daddy, why aren’t you playing tonight?’”** Kimpembe shared. These questions were hard to answer, especially when his children struggled to understand why their father wasn’t on the pitch. **“It was a shock for them, and explaining it repeatedly was mentally taxing,”** he admitted.
The uncertainty extended to his extended family, as well. **“There were many questions from my parents and siblings about my return,”** he said. Despite two surgeries, his optimism remained intact. **“I’m proud to have overcome this, and there’s always hope,”** Kimpembe concluded.
