Nuno Mendes’ Future in Question as Manchester United Shows Interest Amid PSG Talks
Amid stalled negotiations for a contract extension between PSG and Nuno Mendes, a major German club has reportedly reached out to the player and his representatives.
Nuno Mendes’ situation has become a pressing issue for Paris Saint-Germain. In December, it was reported that the club aimed to extend the left-back’s contract until 2026. However, RMC Sport quickly noted that negotiations had hit a standstill. Disagreements over the proposed terms from PSG have left the player’s future uncertain.
According to reporter Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sports, Manchester United has made contact with Nuno Mendes and his agents. The Manchester club has been monitoring the Portuguese defender’s situation closely over the past few months.
A summer transfer on the horizon?
Plettenberg further reports that Manchester United plans to wait until summer to submit a transfer offer to PSG, who are keen on extending Mendes’ contract. While the exact transfer fee has not been disclosed, Mendes’ market value is estimated at €55 million according to TransferMarkt. This price may decline as he approaches the final year of his contract.
Additionally, three other unnamed European clubs are reportedly interested in the player. Plettenberg has indicated that these clubs are considered to be “big” names in the football world.
