Monaco Defeats Nantes 3-1 but Faces Injury Concerns Ahead of PSG Clash

AS Monaco secured a 3-1 victory over Nantes at home on Friday evening, but they may have suffered a significant loss in the process. A key player from their squad is now doubtful for the upcoming Champions League match against PSG.

The win came with a bitter taste for AS Monaco. Star midfielder Maghnes Akliouche left the pitch before halftime during the impressive win. After the match, coach Sébastien Pocognoli could not provide clear information regarding the French international’s availability for the Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. “He had a hip flexion due to a poorly executed back pass, and he made a wrong move. He will assess the extent of the pain tomorrow,” explained the Belgian coach.

His potential absence is particularly damaging as the young midfielder had been regaining his best form after a slow start to the season. “It’s unfortunate because he was performing well at the start of the match. We saw him making incisive decisions,” Pocognoli noted.

Without him, Monaco could struggle to create offensive opportunities against Paris Saint-Germain in what promises to be a challenging encounter. Meanwhile, PSG are also grappling with uncertainty following their surprising defeat to Rennes on Friday night (3-1).
