Milan Skriniar’s Uncertain Future at PSG After Summer Transfer Drama
The saga surrounding Milan Skriniar has been a prominent storyline in the final stretch of the summer transfer window for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The 29-year-old Slovak central defender was widely rumored to be on his way out, with various potential destinations discussed, yet no transfer materialized. Currently on borrowed time at PSG, it appears that his coach has little faith in his contributions moving forward.
Milan Skriniar, whose recent season has been less than stellar, faced challenges stemming from a significant injury in January that sidelined him for a considerable part of the latter half of the campaign. Struggling to meet the high standards he set during his time at Inter, Skriniar failed to impress Luis Enrique, who seemed ready to part ways with him before the transfer window closed on August 30.
Skriniar remains at PSG until January: What’s next?
Despite interest from Al–Nassr and even Roma, as revealed by journalist Romain Collet–Gaudin in the final hours of the transfer window, Milan Skriniar has spent the entire summer in Paris. According to Le Parisien, the Slovak defender will remain at the service of Luis Enrique at least until January. However, it seems that the PSG coach is not fully counting on him behind the scenes.
“The transfer window is closed, I rely on all players”
In contrast, during a press conference on Friday, Luis Enrique delivered a different message. He stated, “I rely on all PSG players under contract. While I have my preferences, Milan and Danilo have been crucial for us in the past season. The transfer window is closed, and I expect all players to contribute to the squad.” With a congested schedule ahead and additional matches in the Champions League due to the introduction of a regular season format replacing the traditional group stage, Milan Skriniar may find opportunities for playing time in the coming weeks.
