Mbappé Claims €55M from PSG After Free Transfer to Real Madrid
On July 1st, Kylian Mbappé made headlines by transferring freely to Real Madrid, but tensions with his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), are far from over. The 25-year-old French superstar is embroiled in a dispute over unpaid wages and bonuses from last season, totaling approximately €55 million. In August, he formally approached the LFP’s legal commission to seek redress, and the commission has since sided with him in this matter, a decision backed by former ASSE coach Pascal Dupraz.
PSG Ordered to Pay Mbappé €55 Million
During the previous season, PSG failed to disburse certain salaries and bonuses owed to Kylian Mbappé. To reclaim the funds, the Real Madrid striker contacted the legal commission of the LFP in August. In a decisive ruling, the commission has instructed PSG to pay the €55 million that Mbappé is owed. This ruling has been endorsed by Pascal Dupraz, highlighting the seriousness of the financial obligations involved.
“Mbappé Is Within His Rights”
“While it’s acknowledged that Mbappé’s reputation may be under scrutiny, it’s not the €55 million that tarnishes it. The legal commission has confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain owes him this amount. If someone owed you money under a contract, wouldn’t you do everything to claim it? Mbappé is entirely justified in his actions. What is somewhat troubling is the sheer magnitude of the sum, especially in France, where there’s often criticism directed at those who earn significant amounts. He has monetized his talent, and he deserves that €55 million. They owe him, plain and simple. His reputation suffers from his own missteps—he makes mistakes. The latest was during a press conference, where, as captain of the French team, he stated he doesn’t care what supporters think of him. That is a mistake, and that affects his reputation, not the money,” stated Pascal Dupraz in an interview on RMC Sport’s Grandes Gueules du Sport.
