Mathieu Bodmer Open to Returning to Paris Saint-Germain, Not as Luis Campos’ Replacement
When asked about the possibility of returning to Paris Saint-Germain, a former player expressed openness to the idea. However, this is not about an active player, but rather a current Ligue 1 executive.
In statements regarding his future, Mathieu Bodmer contemplated a comeback at Paris Saint-Germain. A devoted fan of the club and an ex-player from 2010 to 2013, Bodmer has transitioned into the role of sporting director at Havre AC, where he has successfully maintained the club’s competitive stature year after year.
While he is keen on returning to Paris, he clarified that he does not aspire to replace Luis Campos. “Replacing Luis Campos? That’s a good question. He has done an incredible job at PSG. I would love to. Everyone knows the love I have for this club. Is it a dream? I don’t know. If that opportunity arises one day, why not? But it’s not my goal. I don’t have the same role as Campos. They have an incredible network, but I’m a field guy. If I could watch matches every day, I would. If I could avoid talking to 30 people daily, I would. I would prefer a job without daily relational demands, so perhaps a different role,” Bodmer shared with RMC Sport.
A contract until 2027 for Mathieu Bodmer
Bodmer’s current contract as sporting director at Havre AC is set to expire in June 2027. The club’s management is likely to aim for an extension, but will Bodmer share that same ambition? It is uncertain, as his profile is highly regarded across Ligue 1. Other top-tier clubs may be inclined to offer him a position with significant responsibilities or, as he prefers, a role that allows him to work behind the scenes.
