Marquinhos Discusses PSG’s Ambitions Ahead of Club World Cup in the USA
With just eleven days until the launch of the Club World Cup in the United States, Marquinhos spoke to DAZN, the broadcaster of the competition.
Despite their historic victory in the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain is not resting on its laurels! In about a week, the capital club will head to the United States for the inaugural Club World Cup. The Red and Blue will kick off their tournament in Los Angeles, facing Atlético Madrid and then Botafogo, before moving on to Seattle for their third group stage match against the Sounders.
Ahead of their departure, PSG captain Marquinhos shared his thoughts with DAZN. “This is a tournament that every club wants to be a part of. The new format is very interesting, with all the major clubs participating and facing teams they don’t usually play against,” he stated in an interview, reminding fans that DAZN will stream the Club World Cup for free this summer.
Marquinhos’ Ambition for the Club World Cup
“PSG always aims for excellence,” Marquinhos added during his conversation with DAZN. “As a team, I believe we have shown how much we have progressed and solidified our playing philosophy. We always strive to take center stage in every competition, fighting for the trophy and the top step of the podium.“
After clinching their first-ever Champions League title, Paris now has the chance to secure their first Club World Cup crown. Additionally, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, the club crowned champion will wear a unique badge on their jersey until the next tournament in 2029. PSG has already qualified for the upcoming edition following their Champions League victory on May 31.
