Manuel Ugarte Reflects on Quick PSG Exit and Move to United

Manuel Ugarte’s time at Paris Saint-Germain has come to an abrupt end. After just one season with the Parisian club, the Uruguayan international found himself sidelined by manager Luis Enrique. Consequently, the capital club decided to part ways with him, and Manchester United seized the opportunity to secure his services. Now, the 23-year-old defensive midfielder has shared insights into the circumstances surrounding his transfer.

Brief stint at PSG

Ugarte’s journey with PSG was short-lived. Despite being signed last summer and showing promise, he struggled to establish himself in the team. With his role diminishing under Luis Enrique, PSG opted to allow him to leave during the summer transfer window. Manchester United quickly stepped in, resulting in Ugarte’s transfer to the Red Devils for a reported fee of approximately €60 million, including bonuses. The former Sporting player has opened up about the behind-the-scenes developments of his move.

Excitement about joining Manchester United

In an interview with Manchester United’s media team, Ugarte expressed his enthusiasm for joining such a prestigious club. “We all know how massive Manchester United is, one of the best teams in the world. I spoke a lot with Facu Pellistri, and he shared everything with me—about the atmosphere on match days at Old Trafford… It’s incredible. I’m very excited. I watched a few matches even before the rumors started. I’ve also talked with a couple of players, including Bruno [Fernandes] and Licha [Martinez]. I’m euphoric and thrilled,” Ugarte stated.

A warm welcome from the fans

The Uruguayan midfielder also had a heartfelt message for the Manchester United supporters. “The Manchester United fans… I have never seen anything like it before. Since the first rumors about my transfer, they have been sending me messages; I see them everywhere. It even made the news back in Uruguay,” Ugarte remarked. Now, all eyes are on whether his Premier League adventure will unfold differently than his solitary season in Ligue 1. Stay tuned for updates…
