Manuel Ugarte Leaves PSG for Manchester United After One Year
Manuel Ugarte’s journey at Paris Saint-Germain has come to an unexpected end after just one year. The Uruguayan midfielder, who joined the team last summer, is set to leave the club as he signs with Manchester United for a total of €50 million plus an additional €10 million in bonuses. As he bids farewell to PSG, Ugarte has expressed his mixed feelings about his time in Paris.
Though it took until the final day of the summer transfer window for his move to be confirmed, the transfer of Manuel Ugarte has finally been made official. With Luis Enrique no longer counting on the Uruguayan, who was brought in last year from Sporting Portugal, Manchester United has now secured the midfielder in a deal amounting to €50 million plus €10 million in potential bonuses.
“It’s unfortunate that my time at the club didn’t meet my expectations”
During his stint at PSG, Manuel Ugarte did not have the best experience. He expressed his desire for things to have unfolded differently during his goodbye message to fans on social media. He stated: “Dear PSG supporters, today is the time for me to say goodbye, with mixed feelings. I cannot help but thank you for all the support you’ve given me. Your encouragement, passion, and unwavering support have made each moment unique. It’s unfortunate that my time at the club didn’t meet my expectations. I arrived with a lot of hopes and the desire to succeed, but sometimes things don’t go as planned. Nevertheless, I leave with wonderful memories and valuable lessons that I will always cherish. I also thank my teammates, the coaching staff, and everyone who is part of this club. Although my adventure here has come to an end, I wish you all the best for the future.”
Ugarte excited to join Manchester United
After departing from PSG, Manuel Ugarte is now officially a player for Manchester United. Regarding his new chapter, the Uruguayan shared his excitement with the club’s media: “It’s an incredible feeling to join such a prestigious club, one that is admired worldwide. The project that the football executives discussed with me is extremely exciting: Manchester United is an ambitious club, and I am an ambitious player.”
