Luis Enrique’s Vision: Attacking Football and PSG’s Ambitions
Luis Enrique has a passion for elegant football and refuses to hold back, regardless of the circumstances surrounding his Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) squad. His relentless pursuit of attacking play defines his coaching philosophy, aiming to elevate his team to ultimately capture every title possible.
Whether during his tenure at FC Barcelona from 2014 to 2017—where he became the last coach to win the Champions League with the club—or while leading the Spanish national team, Luis Enrique’s ideology is evident: produce captivating football through constant attacking. Fans of PSG have witnessed this sporting project unfold during his inaugural season at the helm.
This first season has been very positive for everyone
The coach himself expressed satisfaction with the season in an interview with PSG media last August. “The first thing I take away from last season is the three titles. But it’s not just that; there were also many new players, a new staff, and a magnificent new training center. I believe this was the first step of a new project for the club. This first season has been very positive for everyone.”
The next step is to continue along this path by developing the squad
Although Luis Enrique is currently contracted with PSG only until next June, his vision for the club’s future is clear: a steady evolution to become contenders for every title. “The next step is to continue on this path by developing the squad. (…) We want to be able to compete for all the titles.”
No matter if we win, we keep attacking, we don’t stop
In discussing his football philosophy, Luis Enrique emphasized to Ambre Godillon that his focus extends beyond results, which he believes lack satisfaction without a stylish approach.
“I try to do things differently, to show everyone that we can be better, to demonstrate a stronger team that never stops playing good football. We shouldn’t focus solely on the results. I value much more how we win. If you look at our last match of the previous season, the victory in the Coupe de France, it reflects our mentality: to dominate the opponent. No matter if we win, we keep attacking; we don’t stop. I think we saw this throughout last season. When things go well, everyone is happy, and when they don’t, we pick ourselves up and try again.”
