Luis Enrique Takes Responsibility After PSG’s Champions League Loss to Bayern
Paris’s struggles continue as the capital’s team endures its third loss in five Champions League matches. On Tuesday night, PSG was defeated by Bayern Munich with a score of 0-1 at the Allianz Arena. Luis Enrique, the team’s coach, has chosen to take responsibility for this setback.
Enrique shoulders the blame
Speaking to Canal+ after the match, Enrique expressed his willingness to accept the blame for the team’s failure: “If there’s someone to blame, it’s me. I accept all criticisms. No problem.”

Enrique defends Safonov
At the match’s end, captain Marquinhos voiced his frustration with the refereeing, hinting that the team may still be looking for excuses after poor performances. “No, I disagree,” stated Enrique. “We are part of a very interesting project, focused on the future. We’ve shown our level in several matches. And when we lose, we play an attacking football.”
The Spanish coach also refused to single out Matvey Safonov for his misstep that led to the only goal conceded: “Responsibility is shared by the whole team, not just one player. In good times or bad, we shouldn’t look for culprits or heroes when we win. Was it a strong decision to field him? I’ve already answered that question.”
