Luis Enrique Emphasizes PSG’s Youth Development and Vision
The world of football has long recognized FC Barcelona not only for its star-studded roster but also for its prestigious youth academy, La Masia. As Luis Enrique takes the reins at Paris Saint-Germain, he aims to harness the power of youth development, emphasizing that it must be “the very essence of the club.”
Before joining PSG on July 5, 2023, Luis Enrique held notable positions, including leading the Spanish national team and coaching FC Barcelona from 2014 to 2017. He remains the last coach to have guided Barcelona to a Champions League victory, achieving this prestigious feat in 2015.
Embracing Youth Development
Since the early 2000s, FC Barcelona has built a reputation for producing exceptional talent through its academy, La Masia. With emerging stars like Warren Zaïre-Emery making waves at PSG, Enrique believes that the club must look to its own youth players for inspiration. He stated, “I think our team will be even younger than last year. We have several players from the Parisian academy in the squad, young players who are the essence of the club.”
Seeking Passionate Players
In late August, Luis Enrique conveyed a clear message to the media regarding his recruitment strategy at PSG. He expressed the desire to attract players who are eager to join a “unique club like Paris Saint-Germain, in a unique city, in a unique country, and who want to make history with the club.” The stage is set for a new era at PSG.
