Bixente Lizarazu Critiques Bradley Barcola After PSG’s Disappointing Loss to Bayern
Former international Bixente Lizarazu wasn’t impressed by Bradley Barcola’s performance during the Bayern vs. PSG match.
Paris Saint-Germain experienced a setback on Tuesday night, suffering a narrow defeat against Bayern Munich with a scoreline of 0-1. Among the players from the Parisian side who fell short of expectations was Bradley Barcola. The French international struggled to make any significant impact upfront.
The former Lyon player delivered a lackluster performance, catching the attention of Bixente Lizarazu. The 1998 World Cup champion shared with L’Equipe that the Parisian winger “is not performing well in the Champions League.” This is particularly evident from his record of only scoring one goal in 15 matches in the competition.
Lizarazu expresses his disbelief
“He has limitations, but he’s young. We need to accept that,” Lizarazu continued regarding Barcola, choosing not to overly criticize the young player.
The former French star mainly blames the PSG management for not executing a strong recruitment strategy: “Overall, it’s unacceptable for PSG to have a squad like this; you must have a strong team for all competitions. It’s understandable to miss the mark sometimes, but a big club, every year, competes in all competitions.”
PSG, the dominant force in Ligue 1, is now teetering on the brink of elimination from the Champions League. With three games remaining in the regular phase, they are currently ranked 26th in the standings.
