Ligue 1 to Launch Dedicated TV Platform for 2025-26 Season Broadcast
The countdown to a new chapter in French football broadcasting is on, as the French Professional Football League (LFP) has announced a major development this week. The haze surrounding the future of Ligue 1 coverage is finally beginning to lift.
**Ligue 1’s future broadcast plans** have been confirmed: a dedicated digital TV platform is set to revolutionize how fans experience the league. This revelation comes from an official statement by the LFP as anticipation builds for the new season’s kickoff on August 15.
LFP’s strategic breakthrough
The announcement was made following key meetings on July 1, where the **LFP Media’s Supervisory Committee and the League 1 club presidents unanimously agreed** on this landmark initiative. The plan includes the creation of a **TV and digital platform exclusively for Ligue 1 McDonald’s**, managed by LFP Media.
What about Canal+?
This ambitious project signifies a pivotal shift for French football enthusiasts, with the platform set to provide an immersive viewing experience. **From August 15**, it will broadcast the **top ten matches of the season, eight exclusive live games each weekend** from Friday to Sunday, and a major magazine show airing on Sunday nights. This move follows a record-breaking 2024/2025 season, aligning with a vision of accessibility and popularity with a subscription offering of **€14.99 per month**.
However, not all parties are on board. Reports suggest that Canal+ has declined the opportunity to become the primary partner of this venture. The encrypted channel remains hesitant to distribute the platform, although future collaborations haven’t been entirely ruled out. The LFP plans to host a launch press conference on July 10 to introduce this innovative platform to the public.
