Ligue 1 Sees Record Attendances in First Half of 2025-2026 Season, Says LFP

The LFP has revealed the average attendances for all Ligue 1 clubs during the first half of the season, showcasing the impressive turnout of French teams.

The first half of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season marks a significant turning point in attendance figures. According to statistics released by the LFP, a remarkable 4.21 million spectators filled the stands during the first 17 matchdays, setting a new record since the league expanded to 18 clubs. This figure exceeds the previous mid-season high from the 2024-2025 season by over 8,000 fans, confirming the league’s growing appeal.

Highlighting this enthusiasm, the matchup between Olympique de Marseille and Stade Brestois attracted 66,279 fans, the largest attendance recorded at mid-season. In total, 57 matches were sold out, illustrating that stadiums are more packed than ever.

This trend appears to be sustained. The average attendance reached a record-high of 27,505 fans per match, with five clubs exceeding an average of 35,000. Notably, Paris FC, RC Strasbourg, and FC Lorient demonstrated the most significant growth. Over the past five seasons, the average attendance per match has surged by nearly 6,000 spectators.

The fill rate has peaked at 88%, compared to 70.7% five years ago, while subscriptions have also reached new heights with 330,000 members. Ligue 1 is thus reaffirming its popularity and its lasting presence in the French sports landscape.
