Kylian Mbappé Joins Real Madrid After PSG’s €500M Offer Fails
After seven remarkable years representing Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Kylian Mbappé has fulfilled his ultimate dream by signing with Real Madrid for the next five seasons. The French forward’s move is a free transfer, as he opted not to renew his contract in Paris. Despite the Parisian club reportedly offering him a staggering €500 million over five years to stay, Mbappé has decided to embark on a new journey.
The PSG will now have to navigate the future without their star player. As the all-time leading scorer in the club’s history, Kylian Mbappé has bid farewell to the French capital. Back in February, he informed the club’s management of his decision not to extend his contract and confirmed his intention to join Real Madrid at the end of the 2023-2024 season. He was officially presented at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu on July 16, and now he aims to make history in Spain.
The PSG reportedly offered €500 million over five years to Mbappé
Understandably, Mbappé’s desire to leave PSG as a free agent—thus avoiding any transfer fee—has sparked significant tensions. However, recent reports from OK Diario suggest that the club’s hierarchy made a last-ditch effort to retain their star player. According to the Spanish outlet, the Qatar ownership made a final contract offer to Mbappé, amounting to €500 million net over the next five years.
An ambassador role for Qatar was promised
That’s not all; OK Diario also indicates that the PSG had pledged to secure an ambassador position for Kylian Mbappé within the Qatar system should he choose to extend his stay in the capital. However, unlike the situation in 2022, the French international seemed resolute in his decision to forge a new path in Madrid.
