Kombouaré: Former PSG Ally Now Views Them as Rivals on the Field

Paris Saint-Germain’s unbeaten run: A historical challenge

Paris, April 2024 – As the French Ligue 1 season progresses, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) remains undefeated after 26 matches. The burning question is whether they can maintain this streak through to the final match day on May 18.

Breaking records in French football, no club has ever completed an entire French championship season without a loss. The closest attempt was by FC Nantes during the 1994-1995 season, where they were unbeaten for 32 games before falling to Racing Club de Strasbourg on the 33rd match day.

Antoine Kombouaré’s connection with PSG

On April 22, FC Nantes will face PSG in a crucial match on the 29th match day. Nantes’ coach, Antoine Kombouaré, expressed his thoughts on the matter on France 3, acknowledging PSG’s capability to surpass Nantes’ record but also emphasizing his team’s determination to preserve their club’s legacy. “I love PSG, but during the match, they are just another opponent,” Kombouaré stated firmly.

Kombouaré’s history with PSG dates back to his time as a player from 1990 to 1995. He later returned as the club’s coach in 2009, leading the team until 2011, when he was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, despite PSG leading the league at the winter break.
