While Jesus Gil Manzano had a busy day in Monaco last Tuesday—issuing a red card to Golovin and distributing multiple yellow cards—Kovacs returns to a PSG side that traditionally performs well under his officiating.

Istvan Kovacs, a lucky charm for PSG?

The Romanian referee was notably in charge of last year’s Champions League final, where PSG triumphed over Inter Milan with a commanding 5-0 scoreline. He also officiated the return leg of the Champions League round of 16 at Liverpool, where Paris advanced through a penalty shootout. In total, Istvan Kovacs has refereed seven matches for the capital club, resulting in an impressive tally of five wins and two losses.
