Neymar’s unforgettable impact: Former opponents reflect on his extraordinary skills

Close to the twilight of his career, Neymar continues to be remembered by all who faced him on the field.

The world’s most expensive player

In the summer of 2017, Neymar made headlines with a record-breaking transfer from FC Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, valued at an astounding 222 million euros. This remarkable feat came at a time when the transfer market was experiencing inflation, particularly driven by the lucrative deals in the Premier League.

An unforgettable six-year tenure

For six years, Neymar was the center of numerous discussions. While his lifestyle choices occasionally drew criticism, his extraordinary talent was never in question. Former opponents, including Wahbi Khazri, who encountered him during his tenure at Saint-Etienne, remain awestruck by the Brazilian’s virtuosity.

Remarkable technical prowess

Khazri, a former Tunisian international, openly declared Neymar the most impressive player he had ever faced in his football career. “The best player I’ve played against? Neymar. I’m a fan,” Khazri shared enthusiastically. He recounted how Neymar, when at his peak, could effortlessly outmaneuver any defender within the smallest of spaces, thanks to his exceptional agility and unrivaled technique.
