Kimpembe Reflects on PSG’s Champions League Journey and Dembélé’s Ballon d’Or Win
Presnel Kimpembe: Embracing a New Chapter in Qatar
Doha, November 2025 – Presnel Kimpembe, the former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender, has embarked on an exciting new journey with Qatar SC after leaving Europe behind. Speaking candidly to the press, the 2018 World Cup champion shared insights about his new life in the Gulf while reflecting on his cherished memories at PSG, particularly his pursuit of the elusive UEFA Champions League title.
A heartfelt journey with PSG
Presnel Kimpembe expressed deep emotions when discussing his time at PSG. “The Champions League? Those experiences are indescribable,” he noted. “Being a product of the club, I devoted my life to it, striving for years. We faced setbacks but always bounced back, displaying true character. The pressure at Paris is unlike anywhere else. Winning one Champions League with PSG meant more to me than clinching five at clubs like Real Madrid,” he passionately stated.
He continued, highlighting the intense journey: “With all due respect to clubs who’ve won it, achieving this at Paris was exceptionally special. It was a collective effort, overcoming challenges against teams like Manchester United, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich. Reaching the ultimate goal felt like an incredible liberation.”
Kimpembe’s pride in Dembélé’s Ballon d’Or win
Having experienced both triumphs and setbacks at PSG, Kimpembe also celebrated the accomplishments of his former teammate, Ousmane Dembélé. The winger was recently awarded the Ballon d’Or France Football 2025, a moment that filled Kimpembe with pride. “I spoke with him on the phone. He came to Doha for his rehabilitation. It was a proud moment for me. He deserved it,” Kimpembe shared.
The former PSG defender emphasized the significance of Dembélé’s achievement: “Seeing a Paris Saint-Germain player, particularly a Frenchman, win the Ballon d’Or was an honor for all. The happiness was evident in the congratulatory messages and videos. Even Dembélé, who rarely shows emotions, was moved to tears on stage, reflecting the immense effort he put forth to earn this accolade.”
